What is rachel's approach to nutrition?
Rachel believes that treating and managing IBD and IBS invites you to explore the depths of your soul and humanness. Living with IBD and IBS doesn’t have to be a prison sentence or a curse, it can be an opportunity to get to know your strength, to test your resiliency and ultimately help you grow on a physical, mental and spiritual level.
Rachel has over a decade of experience in nutrition and holistic health helping many people manage their IBD, IBS and other digestive symptoms. She combines Western, Functional Nutrition, and Chinese Medicine nutrition and health principles to help reset the microbiome, decrease symptoms and improve quality of life.
What is the gut-brain connection?
The gut-brain connection refers to the two-way communication pathway between the digestive tract (the gut) and the brain. This connection influences not only digestive health but also cognitive function, mood, and behavior.
An imbalance in gut microbiota or disruption in gut-brain communication has been linked to various health conditions, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Rachel will teach you techniques to calm the gut-brain connection that will improve digestive health, mood, and cognitive function.
is there a specific diet that will heal my gut completely?
Diet plays a significant role in gut health and can greatly contribute to healing certain gut-related issues, but is often times one piece of the puzzle. Healing the gut depends on various factors, including stress management, physical activity, emotional well-being, infections, reducing inflammation, microbiota and more. Rachel is here to help you identify areas in your diet and lifestyle you can modify to manage your gut health.
can i get off my medications if i change my diet?
Changing your diet can have a significant impact on your health, and in some cases, it may lead to improvements that allow for a reduction in medication usage or even discontinuation under the guidance of a healthcare provider. However, whether you can stop taking medications entirely depends on various factors, including the type and severity of your medical condition, your overall health status, and how well your body responds to dietary changes.
Do you recommend supplements?
